Mt. Hood and
Mt. Adams Presentation
Thursday, September 25, 2008; 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Local
photographer Darryl Lloyd and the Hood River Watershed Group invite you to a
presentation that will investigate the different eruptive histories of our two
stratovolcanoes. What might we expect in future eruptions? Both mountains are
losing glacial volume at an increasing rate, especially in the last 20 years.
Discuss why some glaciers are longer than they were in the 1960's and then
compare glacier photos taken 100 years ago compared to today. Also included will
be lahars (mudflows) from the past and speculate what would happen today if it
occurred. See amazing photo coverage of the November 2006 debris flows.
Location:
HR Middle School, Auditorium
Class Fee:
$3.00
